It’s not about Roy Rogers, it IS about a guy named Roy though.

When things get tough, or if you’re faced with what looks like an impossible situation, remember this guy!

Here’s an inspiring short little story for ya…

Ever find yourself wanting more in life? More FROM life?

This guy figured it out, and he’s actually surpassed the normal idea of what’s possible.

I used to work in the high-end construction business in Manhattan.

I’d often work around 51st street and 1st Avenue.

If you ever see an older man down there, pushing a large canvas post office bin, collecting bottles and cans, then it’s probably Roy.

He’s cool. We shared a rice and bean lunch one day, got to talking, and I asked him how much he makes collecting cans.

His story was pretty impressive.
Pretty much blew me away!

He was wearing new shoes, clean clothes, wore a watch and a silver ring (not your usual can collecting homeless person).

To my surprise, he told me he wasn’t homeless, had previously worked downtown on Wall St., in the financial industry, and had had your usual run-of-the-mill lifestyle.

At some point, he was laid off (before the recession kicked in), lost his apartment, and had to re-think his whole situation in life.

He did what he could. He starting collecting bottles and cans for redemption. I think he quickly realized the incredible opportunity this provides.

Ready for this?

He told me how much he makes.

Ready?

Roy makes about $800 a week!

Yes, $800!

He works hard though. He IS his own boss, and he works about 3 days a week.

Those three days, he works constantly, morning to night, collecting cans from apartment building’s recycle bags, and from garbage pails etc…

Not too bad, right?

Roy didn’t get bogged down by his problems, and he created an income which affords him the time and freedom to pursue his passion in life… his daughter.

He’s quite the family man.

TWO CUPS OF TEA:

When things in your life seem almost too much to handle, when 24 hours in a day are not enough,

remember the mayonnaise jar and the 2 cups of tea…
A professor stood before his philosophy class and had some items in front of him. When the class began, wordlessly, he picked up a very large and empty mayonnaise jar and proceeded to fill it with golf balls.

He then asked the students if the jar was full. They agreed that it was.
The professor then picked up a box of pebbles and poured them into the jar. He shook the jar lightly. The pebbles rolled into the open areas between the golf balls. He then asked the students again if the jar was full.

They agreed it was.
The professor next picked up a box of sand and poured it into the jar.
Of course, the sand filled up everything else. He asked once more if the jar was full. The students responded with a unanimous “yes.”
The professor then produced two cups of tea from under the table and poured the entire contents into the jar, effectively filling the empty space between the sand. The students laughed.
“Now,” said the professor, as the laughter subsided, “I want you to recognize that this jar represents your life…
The golf balls are the important things; your family, your children, your health, your friends, and your favorite passions; things that if everything else was lost and only they remained, your life would still be full.
The pebbles are the other things that matter like your job, your house, and your car.
The sand is everything else; the small stuff.
“If you put the sand into the jar first” he continued, “there is no room for the pebbles or the golf balls. The same goes for life. If you spend all your time and energy on the small stuff, you will never have room for the things that are important to you.
Pay attention to the things that are critical to your happiness. Play with your children. Take time to get medical checkups. Take your partner out to dinner. Play another 18 holes. Do one more run down the ski slopes.
There will always be time to clean the house and fix the disposal. Take care of the golf balls first; the things that really matter. Set your priorities. The rest is just sand.”
One of the students raised her hand and inquired what the tea represented.
The professor smiled. “I’m glad you asked. It just goes to show you that no matter how full your life may seem, there’s always room for a couple of cups of tea with a friend.”

An excellent guide to the many channels available for income generation, for would be entrepreneurs. A must read.

#2 Hypnotic Writing by Dr. Joe Vitale

This is a favorite Marketing resource of mine. It’s written using the principles Vitale teaches in the book. An easy, education and fun read.

You may remember Joe Vitale from, “The Secret”. Yup! Same dude.

#3 The Four Hour Workweek by Tim Ferriss

Now here’s a very inspirational resource. It’s loaded with tips, contacts, websites, and other resources for lifestyle design. Tim Ferriss has done a masterful, well written job at compiling some of the best info out there on the subject of living the entrepreneurial lifestyle. Another must read for would be entrepreneurs.

#4 The Ultimate Guide To Google Adwords by Perry Marshall

If you’re going to begin a business of any sort, then PPC (Pay Per Click) Advertising is a route you have to take. If you want to learn it from the ground up, then Perry Marshall is your expert. Perry is the master of PPC or Google advertising methods and strategies.

I’d suggest also, that you opt-in to his newsletter. It’s jam packed with content. You’ll learn a lot from him. This guy’s an old pro.

#5 Think and Grow Rich by Napoleon Hill

Napoleon Hill is the pioneer of success material. He was commissioned by Andrew Carnegie to compile the success secrets of the country’s wealthiest men. What he discovered was astounding! All of those secrets are here in his writing. Yet another must read! I especially enjoyed his chapter on the benefits of leveraging your sexual energy. It might suggest the underlying cause of some of the motivational problems of our age.

#6 The Richest Man in Babylon by George S. Clason

Here’s a classic on wealth building and re-investment of resources. It’s in story form, taking place in the wealthiest city of Babylon. 2 poor men take off on a journey to discover how it is that their childhood friend has amassed so much friggin money! It’s a story about what their friend, the richest man in Babylon, teaches them. A very fun, educational, and inspirational read.

#7 7 Strategies for Wealth and Happiness by Jim Rohn

Jim Rohn is another master. He’s an expert on teaching focus, direct, goal setting, and principles of wealth building. This book is last is my list which follows no particular order, but he may as well be at the top. Jim Rohn is THE business philosopher of our time.

If you’re serious about creating a mobile lifestyle, living an unconventional life, creating businesses, or online businesses, building wealth to protect your future, create freedom of time, or enjoy the material things in life, then these books are cornerstones to your education.

Through them, you’ll discover a pretty kick-ass world of avant-garde millionaires, intellectuals, artists, entrepreneurs, psychologists, and philosophers. Right up the alley of the would be entrepreneur.

I thought you might find this interesting, so I put together a few things I’m aware of.

I bet you want to make more money, right?
I bet you might also think that you’re somehow limited to raking in bucks only through your job?
You’re not!

The whole point of my site is to give you the tools you need to free yourself from an old,
outdated mindset. You can make some pretty hefty beans by doing lots of other things, outside of
your normal routine.

Let’s say you take home 30,000 a year at your “job”. What if you could double that number?
It takes a little extra work, but it can certainly be done. Here’s a few ideas that’ll show you how
you can do it. It’s not as hard as you might think. You just need some really basic education (I’m
about to give you all you need), and a tiny bit of elbow grease. I can’t give you the grease, but I
can give you a push. I think you can pull it off.

First:
You need to sell something, to make something. You need to sell stuff.
“What the hell can I sell”, you ask yourself. Here’s the roadblock for most people. They don’t
know where to begin.

Here’s the solution:
You can sell anything!

Old books
Old magazines
Nick-nacks that you got as lame birthday presents
Furniture you’re tired of
Clothes
Your artwork
Your music
A book you wrote
An educational program you design
Your services
Other people’s stuff (even your neighbor’s cat, if you feel so inclined)

Each one of the above can make you a full time income with the right amount of grease behind
it. The question is: How bad do you want to be a millionaire? You gotta want it, to do it.
Get creative, brainstorm a little, and I’ll show you where you can sell your stuff.
HOW to sell things is the next hurdle we’ll knock over…..

So you realize you can sell your stuff (or other people’s) to make some extra cash, or to create
full time self-employment for yourself. Here’s HOW to sell your stuff. How to sell your stuff
online, mostly.

One of the most popular ways to make extra dough is to create an amazon.com site, post your old
books and magazines, and sell away. It’s pretty easy to do. The trick is in the pics. Take a good
couple pics of your stuff, write a basic description, enter your info on the site, and voila! Bucks
galore! If you have a lot of old books, so much the merrier.

I’ll mention this here, because it’s relative to the above. Ebay! Did you realize you could spend
your days carelessly hunting and shopping tag sales and thrift stores, go home, take some pics,
write some simple descriptions, then post your product online at a nice markup? I’ll tell ya: the
best markup is on books. You can pick up loads of books at tag sales, for pennies, then make
3-15 bucks on EACH book. You could support yourself entirely using this method.

Think about it….. What if your online business was selling just 20 books a day at $10 average?
$200 bucks a day selling books from home, ain’t a bad job.
With Ebay, clothes are a biggie too. You can find boat loads of clothes that may never have been
worn, mark ‘em up, and SELL ‘em. Instant moola!

Got some old gifts layin around? Never really liked ‘em? If you have trouble justifying tossing
them because you feel bad Aunt Elma put some thought into it, then think of this. She’d be
happy you turned her gift into a business that brought you some cash. You got what you really
wanted.

BTW: If you want to sell furniture items, I would recommend using craigslist.org. Get the local
shoppers for this stuff. Who the heck wants to ship a 400lb marble table that their grandmother
gave them when they got their first apartment? Not me! Craigslist: let the buyer pick up!

You can be someone’s outsourcer too you know. With Elance.com, you can sell your services.
Good at writing, researching, studying, editing, or proofreading? Create an account on elance,
bid on someone’s posted project, do some work for them, then make some more bread. People
are always looking for their man to help ‘em out. You can be their man. This is a good one. With
some work, you can pull in an extra couple thousand a month.

Are you an artist? Do you paint or write music? Why not sell your stuff? That’s your dream
anyway right? It’s easier than you think.
Buy your domain name (www.myartsthebomb.com??), use a site building template, post your
stuff, sell your stuff. Register.com has an easy to use simple template which allows you to add a
shopping cart. Do some simple online marketing, some youtube videos, blog posts, and shazaam.
Notariety, and more bucks.

As for music, the publishing industry has all around changed completely. The old model is
failing. Even with a conventional record label, you still have to market your own stuff, build
your name, and do a ton of legwork. Why not do it for yourself and keep the publisher’s cut of
the profits? They make more than you do off your stuff. Sell your stuff yourself.
Check out lulu.com. It’s a pretty good self publishing solution.

If it’s a book you’ve written and want to sell, then I’d recommend createspace.com. it’s a
subsidiary of Amazon, it has tons of options, and it’s super cheap. Selling books is a great way to
make some extra money. Again, the old publishing paradigm is falling. All authors have to
heavily market their own stuff. The publishers these days just handle distribution and cover
design.

There are millions of people online. Who needs distribution to get started…
With a conventional publisher, you’ll make about $1 a book. If you landed an agent, you’ll get
about .50 per book. With self-publishing, you’ll make anywhere from $3 to $10 book average.
Not too shabby. Especially if you have 400 friend that will buy your stuff just because they know
you ;0) You could potentially nail 4 Grand on your first night! Bam! Bucks!

Real fast…. If you got it in you… You’re an expert in something? Design an educational
program (print and video will suffice), design a website around it, market the hell out of it, sell it,
sell YOUR stuff, rake in the dough. Study marketing and copywriting. With this powerhouse you
could potentially pull in a million in sales overnight! People HAVE done it… and it’s not so
uncommon.

Last but hardly least: Sell other people’s stuff. I don’t really mean you should sell your neighbors
cat. Even if it does crap in your potted plants. I’m talking about affiliate marketing. You know I
love this subject. This is where you get a special link from a site like clickbank.com, you post it
in an Adwords ad, or on your blog, or website, people click it, buy the product, the sale’s tracked
back to you, you get a cut. You never touch inventory, there’s ZERO overhead. You make a sale,
you get paid. Pretty cut and dry.

Some of the commissions are pretty cool too. Between 15 and
150 beans from one sale. Not too bad. A TON of people live very rich, and eventually quit their
jobs to become full time or part time millionaire affiliate marketers. Not too bad. It’s all online.
Sit on the beach, relax, unwind, travel, work an hour or two a day, collect checks, and live well.
It’s possible for anyone, even house-pets ;)

There you have it. I hope this gave you some ideas, freed your mind a bit from the limiting belief
that your source of income is directly related to your career or job, and motivated you to get
going on your new entrepreneurial lifestyle.

I’m all about “Do what you love”. If you can make a fortune doing it, then by all means do it!
Life’s too short to be a slave wearing a ball and chain till retirement. Retirement now please…

I’ve heard this so many times, from so many people. It seems common these days that people spend their lives working some dead end job that they don’t even like. I’ve been there too, and I can’t stand it.

It’s only a matter of time before you’ve had it up to here. You’ll feel the pressing need to change. Something. Anything.

Essentially, this blog was created off this phrase: I hate what I do.

Do What I Love Lifestyling for the Nonconformist is also a product of this problem.

When you hate what you do, what should you do?

Stop doing it of course!

Life is too short to be wasted on something you’re not passionate about. What they don’t teach kids in school, is to pursue your dreams. When you’re a kid, everyone will tell you you can be what you want, but when you get old the realists (the pessimists) tell you to be “realistic”. To be realistic, in their eyes, is to do what they do: to slave away in misery, because it brings in a check. You can bring in checks doing what you love too…..

The object is this: Discover what you love to do, and work tirelessly in all your free time, to create your ideal future. I know nothing is really ideal, but you can claim your stake in life, and eat it too. The last thing you want to hear yourself say is “I really hate what I do”

The world would have a much less collective stress level if everyone pursued their passion in life.

If you’re flipping burgers, doing construction, holding signs on street corners, because you need the check, then I suggest you make it a priority to take one of your interests (if you have any! If you don’t, then find some) and study hard to create an occupation from it.

You’re second object is to create multiple streams of income, to afford yourself the freedom to pursue the things you’re passionate about.

I know this may sound like obvious information, but the reality is, we often need reminders. Nonconformists hate to hear, in their own mental chamber, the words, “I really hate what I do”.

Do something about it!

It’s a known fact that wealth and war are the two major contributors to technological advance. Since the rapid advance of technology has been happening the rich are getting richer and the powerful are becoming more powerful.

How does this affect you?

Technology and the internet are still young. Though the destruction of the middle class is happening, you can still jump on the wagon, and grab your piece of the pie. If you begin your own online business now, then you’ll be able to grow with the growth of technology. If you don’t start now, then you’ll end up working some low paying job, trying to compete with outsourcers. Who wants that?

Empower yourself to create your own future. You CAN be one of the wealthy entrepreneurs.

In a later post, I’ll add a valuable resourse for online courses that can educate you on various methods of wealth creation. As for now, I’d say do some research.

I highly suggest, if you want to finally liberate yourself from slavery to your boss, you begin studying marketing and copywriting. If this is indeed the age of the entrepreneur, then marketing is his most valuable asset.

Copywriting is an artform which is not restricted to just the highly creative. If you have technical skill, are practical, emotional, or intuitive by nature, then copywriting is something you can easily pick up.

A GREAT starter book for learning copywriting is Hypnotic Writing by Joe Vitale. Vitale’s a genius when it comes to the art of writing sales letters. He’s written a multitude of cool, easy-read books.

Clearly define what you’re good at in life.

Educate yourself.

Set goals.
